Short term loan program for durable medical equipment - 3 month rental program

The Hospital Equipment Program dates back to the year of 1956. It was reported that the Two Rivers Community Hospital was going to dispose of various pieces of durable medical equipment that was no longer needed. Members of the Two Rivers Lions Club became aware of this and questioned the possibility of having this equipment on hand. Their initial thought was to provide people in the community the opportunity to use this equipment for a minimal cost. This equipment could be used during rehabilitation of an injury or because of a medical necessity. 

The Lions Club only problem was where to keep this equipment and who would handle this on a daily basis. This is where the Two Rivers Fire Department came into the picture. The Lions club met with the Fire Department to see if a cooperative effort could be put forth to assist this cause. This is where the present day program originated. On average, there are between 100 and 150 pieces of medical equipment being used by the public at any one time.

The Hospital Equipment Program currently remains at the Two Rivers Fire Department. People in need of durable medical equipment are urged to call the fire department at (920) 793-5521 to verify the desired equipment is available. Equipment can be held for up to 48 hours. Equipment can be picked up Monday through Friday at the fire station at 2122 Monroe St between the hours of 7:00am and 3:00pm and on Saturday and Sunday between the hours of 9:00am and 1:00pm. There is a short form to be completed for tracking purposes. It is asked that the borrower use the equipment for a time period not to exceed 3 months. This time limit insures others can use the equipment. If there is a need to have the equipment longer, there are avenues through Medical Insurance to assist in purchasing the needed equipment.  A portion of the initial money paid would be given back to the customer.

• Knox Box (a locked box for house keys)
• Wheelchair (with or without elevated leg rests) in 18", 20" 22" seat sizes

$20 deposit

• Commode with pail (pail is non-returnable/non-refundable)

$15 deposit

• Canes (standard, multiple-legged, tri-pod base)
• Commode (Standard or Bariatric)
• Crutches
• Dressing Sticks
• Grabber
• Hemi-walker
• Riser (with or without handles)
• Shoe Horn
• Sock Aid
• Toilet Safety Rails
• Tub Bench
• Tub Chair (with or without handles)
• Tub Chair (with or without back)
• Tub rails
• Walkers (no-wheel, 2-wheel, 4-wheel with brakes & seat)

We only accept CASH or CHECKS (made payable to HOSPITAL EQUIPMENT FUND). We do not accept credit cards.  Please call ahead at (920) 793-5521 for availability. 

We do not carry any motorized equipment.
