School Resource Officer Program

The School Resource Officer (SRO) Program has been an important part of the Two Rivers Public School District and the Police Department's Administrative Services Division since 1983. Currently we have three SROs serving the Two Rivers Public School District.

The SRO is a patrol officer assigned to special duties during the school year and provide a law enforcement resource to the staff, students and families.  The goal of the SRO program is to work together as a triad connecting the school, police and community. 

Our SROs are in the schools to prevent crime, promote safety and respond to law enforcement related needs involving the school and children within the schools.   One of our main goals is to have officers present and interacting with students while serving as a positive role model and resource for them. We, too, believe in Kids at Hope and want children to make positive choices, reach their full potential and be diverted from the juvenile justice system when possible.  

While the SROs do investigate crimes and law violations, they also are involved in several other ways.  The SROs assist with safety planning for the schools, teach violent critical incident response, present in many different classes on various topics, and teach DARE from elementary through middle school.  The SRO at the High School teaches a college credited course, Introduction to Criminal Justice, through LTC.
