Crime Prevention Committee

The Cool City Crime Prevention Committee (CCCPC) is a non-profit organization that works closely with the Two Rivers Police Department to continually work on crime prevention initiatives. The purpose of this group is to bring the citizens of Two Rivers updated information, facts, and safety tips in hopes to reduce crime and enhance the quality of life in our community.

The CCCPC in conjunction with the Police Department work together on many projects and events including:

  • Project ChildSafe - a nationwide program whose purpose is to promote safe firearms handling and storage practices among all firearms owners through the distribution of key safety education messages and free gun locking devices (firearms safety kits). The program is supported by a U.S. Department of Justice grant (DOJ), the National Shooting Sports Foundation, and is a component of Project Safe Neighborhoods.
  • Project Safe Child - a photo is taken of your child and materials are provided to parents to safe keep DNA and personal information in the event your child would go missing. The project takes place at local schools and during certain community events.
  • Cops and Cones – an event held in conjunction with the Two Rivers Parks and Rec Department’s Chalk it up and Family Night events at Koenig School and Washington Park respectively.  The committee purchases ice cream that Officers get to hand out to kids, while having fun and playing games and also letting them explore their squad cars and equipment.
  • National Night Out - an annual event in early August where the CCCPC encourages citizens to have block parties, be out in their neighborhood and have their porch lights on to show unity against criminal activity. The event kicks off at a local park with many fun activities, music, food, and displays and demonstrations.  Displays and Demonstrations include Local and State Law Enforcement agencies, K9, Fire Department, DNR, Army National Guard, Eagle III Helicopter landing, and more.
  • Christmas Fantasy Parade (currently paused due to low membership from COVID) - CCCPC enters a float in the parade to raise awareness for crime prevention. The committee also sponsors a coloring contest for Pre K - 4th grade children where winners get to ride in one of the parade police cars or ride on the float.

These projects help benefit our community and Police Dept.  Any Proceeds / Donations received get re-invested back into supporting our Community by using them to purchase prizes/attractions for National Night Out, support the Shop with a Cop Program, donate books to the local Elementary Schools, purchase Ice Cream for Cops and Cones, and more.

We are always looking for new members and urge residents to consider joining our group!
