2024 Ballot Access for City Councilmember Seat

December 1st is the first day for Councilmember candidates to circulate nomination papers for the 2024 Spring Election. Your declaration of candidacy should be filed as soon as you determine that you intend to run for office, even if that is before December 1. Packets are available for pickup in the City Clerk's office or can be downloaded here.

Candidacy paperwork and nomination papers are due back to the City Clerk no later than 5:00 pm on January 2, 2024.

Any incumbents not seeking re-election are required to file a notification of non-candidacy no later than Friday, December 23rd at 5:00 pm.

In 2024, the following individuals will need to seek re-election if they wish to continue in their positions:
Councilmember, 3-year term: Jeff Dahlke
Councilmember, 3-year term: Tracey Koach
Councilmember, 3-year term: Vacant Seat

A minimum of 100 signatures are required. Obtaining closer to 110 signatures is recommended in case any of the signatures need to be disqualified. Voters can sign nomination papers for as many candidates as they'll be allowed to vote for on the ballot. For candidates running for a 3-year term, a voter can sign nomination papers for 3 candidates (because it will be a "Vote for 3" race). Once papers are submitted, they'll be cross referenced with papers submitted by other candidates to verify that the signatures can be counted.
