Bridge Done – Dredging Underway

The brand new 17th Street Bridge was dedicated on August 2, and just days later the dredging work on the East Twin River began. This will serve to increase the attractiveness of the former Hamilton Manufacturing property that is planned for demolition (see below). By garnering state and federal funding, the city saved millions of dollars and was still able to keep a lift bridge at this important location that links our commercial fishing and sport fishing community to the lake, and our downtown and bike trails to Neshotah Beach. The new bridge is also the last one we have to replace in the city for decades to come as all 4 of our bridges have been replaced in recent years.
